Happy retirement, Cpl. Mellon.

Today marks the end of a great career. Corporal Joe Mellon is retiring after 32 years of serving the citizens of Springfield Township. We’d like to congratulate Cpl. Mellon as he heads off to enjoy some well deserved relaxation and of course some time on the road with his motorcycle. Please join us in wishing Cpl. Mellon a Happy Retirement.

At 6 AM this morning, Flourtown Fire Police were called to assist in shutting down traffic from entering I-76 eastbound at the I-476 southbound offramp due to extensive flooding. The crew stayed on location until I-76 east reopened at 9:45 AM. It is somewhat unusual for us to be called this far out of our area, however the overnight storms resulted in many extended duration calls for fire police units across the county.
