The final step to getting Ladder 6 “officially” in service has been completed. The truck has been hand gold leafed and striped by Gregg Heger from Massachusetts. We would like to thank Gregg for traveling down to Flourtown to do such a masterful job. Gregg helped Charlie Mullin gold-leaf the old ladder 6 that this truck is replacing. Thanks Gregg for keeping Charlie’s memory alive at Flourtown!!

In October of 2017, Pennsylvania passed new fireworks legislation. Residents can now purchase and use consumer-grade or Class C fireworks that include firecrackers, roman candles, bottle rockets, and similar fireworks that contain a maximum of 50 mg of explosive material. Previously, only sparklers and novelty items could be purchased and used. The requirements for igniting fireworks include:
• They cannot be ignited or discharged on public or private property without the express permission of the property owner
• They cannot be discharged from or within a motor vehicle or building
• They cannot be discharged toward a motor vehicle or building
• They cannot be discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure
• They cannot be discharged while the person is under the influence or alcohol, a controlled substance, or another drug
• Display fireworks that contain more than 130 mg of explosive material and professional aerial shells may only be used by professionals and require a permit
• M-80’s, cherry bombs, quarter-sticks, etc. are federally unlawful
• Nationally, an average of 7 fireworks-related deaths occur per year, along with an estimated 11,100 injuries
• Please be responsible and enjoy the holiday, but be considerate of your neighbors as we often receive fireworks-related noise complaints that affect animals
• Call 911 if you observe a violation, i.e., noise complaints related to unlawful fireworks, or other provisions of the law.
A Police Officer will respond with the possibility of a citation being issued, especially if a prior warning has been issued

This morning Station 6 was dispatched to the 800 block of Harston Ln. for a vehicle into the creek.
Upon arrival crews found a pick-up truck with a trailer attached down the embankment into the creek. All occupants were accounted for with no one in the vehicle.
Oil booms were deployed down stream as a precaution.
Members assisted the tow company in removal of the vehicle, verifying there was no contamination of the creek.
