At 5:49am, the Barren Hill Volunteer Fire Company and other mutual aide fire companies were alerted to a barn fire in the north western portion of the Township. Crews arrived on scene to a fire that was well advanced and had already consumed a majority of the building. Volunteers from many surrounding volunteer fire companies worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control. No injuries have been reported. (The barn was not used for animals)
The fire remains under investigation by the Whitemarsh Township Fire Marshal's Office.
Thank You to our Mutual Aide Fire Companies, EMS and Police for the assistance this morning.

On December 5th Flourtown Fire Company will be participating in Plymouth Ambulance's 11th Annual Christmas Toy Run benefiting Bryn Mawr Hospital and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. We are asking our community to help us brighten the lives of kids who can not be home for the holidays. Please help us by bringing your unwrapped toys to our firehouse on Monday nights November 16th, 23rd or 30th between 7pm and 9pm. Just drop them off at our bay doors. We will be parading down with our fire truck along with other fire companies and ambulance services on December 5th. If you don't know what to buy…just ask your kids for help, they know just what kids want. Thank you for helping us with the great cause.

Charlie was a member of the Flourtown Fire Company and volunteered to serve the community for 55 years. In addition to being a firefighter, engineer, secretary, and captain of the fire police unit, he also served as a board of director for 27 years. He was also secretary of the Springfield Township Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association, serving three fire companies for 33 years.
Charlie was also pivotal in capturing the history of the Flourtown Fire Company as the author of our 100th Anniversary history book. His great smile, kind nature and his history lessons with be sorely missed around Flourtown.
