Obituary for Charles M. Samtmann at Jacob F. Ruth Funeral Directors

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Life Member and Former Fire Police Captain Charlie Samtmann. Charlie was a member of the Flourtown Fire Company and volunteered to serve the community for 55 years. In addition to being a firefighter, engineer, secretary, and captain of the fire police unit, he also served as a board of director for 27 years. He was also secretary of the Springfield Township Volunteer Firemen’s Relief Association, serving three fire companies for 33 years.

Charlie was also pivotal in capturing the history of the Flourtown Fire Company as the author of our 100th Anniversary history book. His great smile, kind nature and his history lessons with be sorely missed around Flourtown.

Flourtown Fire Co has always been family to us. I appreciate all of the connections and friendships over the years. I will always be proud to say my Dad was part of this great organization.
