Saturday, March 13th at 20:18 hrs Station 6 (Flourtown), Rescue and Boat 82 (Wyndmoor), and Rescue 29 (Barren Hill) were dispatched to the area of Northwestern Ave. and Germantown Pk. for the water rescue. Chief 6 arrived on scene to find a van, that had driven around a barricade and a gate, stalled in approx. 4 ft of water with two occupants. Crews arrived on scene and were ordered to attempt to walk out to the van, while Boat 82 was prepared to be launched in case the current was to strong to walk in. The crew walking out to the van reported back they were able to make it to the van and they were in the process of removing the occupants. Occupants were checked out at the scene by Springfield (311) Ambulance. Crews cleared at 20:50 hrs.
Whitemarsh Basement Fire – 02/05/10
Friday, January 5, 2010 at 17:00hrs, Stations 29 (Barren Hill) and 6 (Flourtown) were dispatched to the 6300 block of Fairfield Drive for the Dwelling fire. Deputy 6 on scene with heavy smoke showing, confirming all occupants out of the building and establishing 29 command. Engine 6’s crew led off with an 1-3/4″ line and found moderate fire in the basement. A quick knock was put on the fire, as Ladder 6 and 29’s crew laddered the building and checked for extension. Squad 6 established a water supply. Rescue 82 (Wyndmoor) handled the RIT assignment. Stations 45(Spring Mill) and 56(Lincoln) were also dispatched on the Whitemarsh working fire procedure.
2009 Flourtown Fire Company Fire Prevention Open House
October 5, 2009 Flourtown Fire company held its annual fire prevention open house. There was food, tours of the fire trucks, a fire prevention puppet show, oven/stove fire demonstrations and Barren Hill Fire Company’s smoke house. The highlight of the evening was Scooby-Doo’s arrival on the new Squad 6 following the landing of PennStar’s helicopter.
