On Sunday, January 6, 2013, Flourtown Fire Company, along with Oreland Fire Company and Wyndmoor Hose Company responded to a smoky electrical fire outside the Dollar Tree store in the Flourtown Plaza. A dry chemical extinguisher was used to put out the fire. PECO and the shopping center’s realty company took over the scene after first responders secured the scene and made sure the stores and surrounding stores were properly evacuated. Fairlane Grill Fire – October 13, 2012
On October 13, 2012, a report of smoke was made in the area of the Fairlane Grill, 617 Bethlehem Pike. Responding units from Flourtown Fire Company, reported heavy smoke coming from the rear of the building and the incident was escalated. Wyndmoor, Oreland and Wissahickon Fire Companies responded and crews tracked a small fire coming from the kitchen had extended in the rear wall of the restaurant to apartment above. Flourtown made access to the roof and removed some of the roof to extinguish the fire. The Fairlane Grill was closed for repairs and re-opened on November 5.
Springfield Fire Companies Respond to Garage Fire
On July 12, 2012 at approximately 12:40 AM all three companies in Springfield Township responded to a garage fire in Erdenheim. Upon arriving on the scene Chief 6 confirmed a fully involved garage and took command. Flourtown’s Engine 6 lead off with 1 3/4 inch hose and made access to the garage via a side door, knocking down the bulk of fire while making progress from the driveway to the side door. Oreland and Wyndmoor supplied additional hose lines, manpower and a water supply while Ladder 6 and other crews removed the garage door. A vehicle and the contents of the garage were destroyed in the fire.
Flourtown Has A Good Showing at Independence Day Parade

Wyndmoor Fire Co. Chief Fran DePaul, Oreland Deputy Chief Don Serianni, Community Day Organizer Teresa Buzniak, Flourtown Fire Company, President, Tim Ernst and Deputy Chief Springfield Ambulance Jerry Edwards and Police Corporal Ray Vesci with the awards presented by the Community to honor the emergency responders of Springfield Township.
On the Tenth Anniversary of the horrific attacks on the our nation on 9/11/01, the community of Springfield Township gather to remember all those who lost their lives in NYC, at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, PA. Flourtown Fire Company along with the other two township fire companies, Oreland Volunteer Fire Company and Wyndmoor Hose Company, Springfield Ambulance and Springfield Township Police Department were also honored as our local emergency responders. The public enjoyed free food, and information from many community organizations as they have for the last 17 years in beautiful Cisco Park in Erdenheim, PA.
